Hvíslustell
Hvíslustell (e. Whisperware) was presented during DesignMarch 2025 at the restaurant Hosiló.
Hvíslustell is a collaborative project between five designers and artists that runa studio together in the heart of Reykjavík. The tablewear is designed with the drawing game exquisit corpse, whispering to each other with different techniques moving between the group members until a final result was achieved and each item was produced in a limited number of copies.
Focusing on using recycled or natural ma-terials and leftovers, the tableware was slowly manufactured. Playfulness was an essential part of designing Hvíslustell, both in the production process and as a goalfor the users of the tableware.
The project was funded with a grant from Myndstef(e. The Icelandic Visual ArtCopyright Association).
Following sketches and directions from designers of Hvíslustell, glassblowing of the wine glasses were in the hands of Anders Vange(Reykjavík Glass) made out of leftover glass and wooden bowlswere turned by Örn Ragnarsson from rowan. The production of plates, bowls, and water glasses made of glass andceramics was handled by the design group in the studio. The final step of the whispering game took place at Hosiló where guests enjoyed eating and drinking with the pieces of the project.
The team behind the whispering tableware consists of Agnes Ársælsdóttir, visual artist, Berglind ÓskHlynsdóttir, fashion designer, Rebekka Ashley, product designer, and Sylvía Dröfn and Silvía Sif, product designers (Studio Allsber).
