SPJARA - Umbúðir

SPJARA is a fashion rental company. It’s the first of its kind in Iceland.
I came into the project to design reusable and sustainable packaging for SPJARA.
The packaging is sent to renters, containing garments, and then returned to SPJARA. So the same packaging is used again and again and again.
The material used for the reusable packaging is waste material from an Icelandic sailing company, Seglagerðin.
By repurposing this sailing material I was able to create incredibly durable yet sleek packaging that protects garments from the weather and dirt while shipping.
Inside the outer packaging is a dust bag that are repurposed sheets that are collected from The Red Cross textile recycling facility.
This project was nominated for Bláskelin 2022 which is a recognition of the Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate for excellent solutions in plastic issues.
