Technology is rapidly evolving and as a result certain power cords are loosing their purpose. Power cords become obsolete and have no second life.
Power cords come in all sorts of colors, sizes and textures. By splicing the cables together, a long thread is formed which I call "rafvefnaður".
Both connectors and claws are removed with pliers and saved for future endeavors.
By using "rafvefnaður" in weaving I can create textiles and give the cables continued life in a circular economy.
The result of this project has been a chair, chandeliers, sweater and a vest.
This project received a grant from The Icelandic Design Fund 2023.
